Smoking is permitted in Quebec seniors’ residences

(The Gazette) – MONTREAL — Despite banning smoking in restaurants, bars and hospitals, Quebec still allows smoking in its network of long-term care seniors’ residences. Most seniors must smoke in designated smoking rooms, but administrators have the discretion to allow residents to smoke in their private rooms, according to government guidelines that regulate smoking in health care centres.
